Access-Shakespeare

Our touring production for 2010 will be A Midsummer Night's Dream. Join actors from the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival as they bring a dynamic, fully staged production to your school. For junior high school students through adult education programs, this is the opportunity to introduce the many-faceted world of Shakespeare’s fantastical play in approximately 90 minutes and engage your group in a 20-minute talk-back with the actors after the performance.

The production will focus on the language, characters and relationship between audience and actor without dumbing down the text, thus making the story memorable and accessible. Schools that participate also receive a comprehensive study guide to A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Our mission is dedicated to producing the plays of Shakespeare with an economy of style that focuses our energy and resources on script, actors and audience. We communicate the stories with an energy, clarity and invention and we distill rather than embellish the language and action. We challenge ourselves and our audience to take a fresh look at what is essential in Shakespeare's plays and our education programs hope to excite students of all ages about the works of the Bard.
