Samantha Kappagoda

Samantha Kappagoda is chief economist of Risk Economics, Inc. She focuses on the application of rigorous analytics to large-scale geopolitical, macroeconomic and socioeconomic issues. Samantha pursues her broader research interests as a visiting scholar at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, and as a senior editorial advisory board member of The Journal of Risk Finance, a quarterly journal that publishes theoretical and empirical research on the financing of risk. During her career, she has also worked as senior economist of Caxton, a hedge fund with over $10 billion of assets under management, and as an economist at the World Bank.

She holds an MBA in analytical finance and statistics from the University of Chicago, an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, and a BSc in Mathematics from Imperial College, London.
