Summer Shakespeare Institute - "Freeing the Text"

In August 2010 we will continue to offer our three-day professional development institute for teachers of grades four through twelve. This interactive course immerses teachers in creative exploration that will increase confidence and offer hands-on techniques that help teachers explore Shakespeare's language, themes, characters and stories in the classroom.

This year's institute will take a three-part approach to Shakespeare in the classroom. In addition to workshops focused on the pedagogical and scholarly approaches, a new section of the cour se will expose educators to professional theatrical- training techniques in Voice, Acting, Movement and Improvisation. This year's institute will also allow educators who have attended in the past to move forward in their training with an advanced training section. Theater tickets, pre-peformance lectures, lunch and dinner are included.
