Each season HVSF partners with esteemed theater fellowship programs to offer in-depth seasonal residencies for early-career directors.
Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) Professional Development Program
Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival is proud to participate in SDCF’s Professional Development Program. This opportunity allows someone to be a Fellow to Director Amanda Dehnert for her production of LOVE’S LABOR’S LOST starting June 2023
Production Title: Love’s Labor’s Lost by William Shakespeare with original music by Amanda Dehnert and Andre Pleuss
Dates of Fellowship: June 6, 2023 (first rehearsal) – July 16, 2023 (opening night)
Rehearsal and Performance Location: Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival Garrison, New York 10524
Award: $4,500
Additional information: This Fellowship opportunity is an ideal opportunity for an early career director specifically interested in learning more about radically adapting Shakespeare through the application of modern dramaturgy and the incorporation of original music and lyrics – not to adapt the play to a musical, but instead to offer comment, context, or insight on character and motivation. Housing will be provided for this opportunity.
