Full Circle: Projects & Priorities

This is our home.

Inspired by HVSF's community-driven 2016 production of OUR TOWN, we're launching Full Circle to redouble our commitment to this big, beautiful Hudson Valley and the neighbors and friends who call it home. What does this mean? Explore our current projects and priorities below and let us know if you'd like to get involved.

Writing: HVSF's Community Bakeoff

HVSF will produce its second annual HVSF Bakeoff, a festival of short plays by Hudson Valley residents, as part of our HVSF2 reading series. We'll start with a series of local workshops offering support and guidance to citizen writers looking to dive head-first into playwriting. Pulitzer-prize winning playwright Paula Vogel, with initial suggestions from workshop participants, will prepare a collection of words or phrases to inspire new plays around a theme, and workshop participants will then be invited to submit a ten-minute script incorporating some of Vogel's 'ingredients.'

A number of these short works will be chosen for reading at the HVSF Bakeoff on August 4 and August 5. Thanks in part to support from Humanities New York, all tickets for our Bakeoff readings are FREE to the public! Reserve your Bakeoff tickets here >

HVSF's Community Playwriting Workshops: Forward, Forward Sisters!

The theme for this year’s Bakeoff and Community Playwriting Workshops celebrates the centennial of women’s suffrage and the lives and roles of women in the Hudson Valley over the last 100 years. Each of our host libraries have created a month-long display around this theme that will offer citizen playwrights the chance to get closer to available resources about the history of women’s suffrage! Short play submissions will be accepted from any participant of an upcoming or previous HVSF playwriting workshop. Register below for one of our FREE Community Playwriting Workshops:
