Shakespeare Summer Camp

Encouraging spontaneity, challenging imagination.

A creative, process-based theater camp for children ages 8-16 with an interest in the performing arts. All classes are taught by theater professionals from HVSF’s acting company and renowned Education Programs.  We make Shakespeare fun! The camp includes classes in theater games, improvisation, stage combat, text analysis, acting and vocal production that provide an exciting opportunity to explore language, characters and acting techniques. We invite you to a place where spontaneity is encouraged, imaginations are challenged and memories will be infinite! Children in all age groups may enroll for either week or the full two-week program.

Discounts and Promotions: 

  • Early-Bird Discount: $25 discount when you enroll by April 2, 2018.
  • Philipstown Residents: $10 additional discount applicable to all rates, including Early-Bird and Sibling Discounts. Proof of residence required.
  • Sibling Discount: If you are registering more than one child (after the Early-Bird Discount deadline), receive $15 off registration fees. Limit up to 2 siblings.

NEW! Campers in the 13-16 age group will participate in longer master classes with each Camp Instructor and be provided exciting opportunities to work directly with guest artists. With a focus on maintaining a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, our senior campers will be given fun and new creative challenges that will make their time at Shakespeare Summer Camp even more memorable!


Applications Now Open for the Balter Family Scholarship Fund for Peekskill Residents

HVSF is thrilled to open applications for the Balter Family Scholarship, a fully-funded scholarship program for residents of Peekskill, NY between the ages of 8 – 16 years old to attend our Shakespeare Summer Camp! Geared toward children with an interest in the performing arts, our creative, process-based theater camp is perfect for all skill-levels. Scholarships may be awarded for either the one-week or two-week program, and transportation to and from Peekskill may be available (but is not guaranteed).


Apply by June 5 to be considered this year!

To Apply:

  1. Provide proof of residency in Peekskill, NY
  2. Submit a letter indicating why you think Shakespeare Summer Camp will be beneficial to your camper and why you are in need of the scholarship funds.
    a) Scholarships may be awarded for the one-week or two-week program. Please indicate if you are interested in one week or the full two-week program.
    b) Please indicate whether or not you would be dependent on transportation being provided in order for your camper to attend.
    c) Please make sure to include a current e-mail address and phone number so that we can contact you in the case that your camper is awarded the scholarship.

Recommend a Camper:

Do you know someone in your school or community that you want to recommend for the scholarships? Recommendation letters may be included with the proof of residency and parent letter and will be taken into consideration during the review process.


Submissions must be received by June 5, 2017. Awards will be announced June 9, 2017. There are select spots available. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Upon award, registration forms will be provided for completion in order to finalize your camper’s spot at Shakespeare Summer Camp!
