Let’s be honest: These are trying days for everyone. And we are all finding different ways to cope. Some HVSF artists are staying sane by doing what artists do best – making stuff. We have rounded up a collection of offerings that HVSF veterans have made from the confines of social isolation – and we look forward to a time when we can all be together again.
Julia Coffey – RICHARD II
Watch Julia Coffey reprise her role of RICHARD II from our 2018 production, with a speech about the power of imagination to transform solitude into company. Delivered from the confines of her NYC apartment, salvation comes in the form of “music,” when she opens her window to the sounds of cheering for the heroes on the front lines of fighting the virus.
Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind
Music by Heather Christian
Sung by Kimberly Chatterjee
from HVSF’s AS YOU LIKE IT (2016)
Kimberly Chatterjee was a member of the HVSF Conservatory Company in 2016, performing in AS YOU LIKE IT, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, and SO PLEASE YOU. She returned in 2017 to play Lydia and Lady Catherine in the world premiere of Kate Hamill’s PRIDE & PREJUDICE.
John Tufts – Dining at Shakespeare’s Table
Avid HVSF fans will recognize John Tufts from our 2017 production of PRIDE & PREJUDICE, where he played Mr. Bingley and Mary Bennet.
A self-described Shakespeare nerd, John has combed Shakespeare’s plays for references to food. And there are multitudes! Descriptions of food people eat, how people look like food, insulting people with food, characters named after food, and characters baked into food. John created a book based on his research and passion for cooking.
Leenya Rideout – Children Will Listen – INTO THE WOODS
Leenya Rideout joined us under the tent this past summer playing The Witch in our first-ever musical. Listen to Leenya return to the heartbreakingly beautiful Sondheim song in this recent video.
