Hudson Valley Shakespeare’s performances will take place on the grounds of our new home in Garrison, NY, using our preexisting temporary theater tent while plans are still underway for construction of a permanent open-air theater venue. Audiences will continue to experience our signature open-air productions and pre-show picnicking on the grounds.

Getting Here By: Train
Take the Metro-North Hudson Line to Garrison from points south or north. On weekends, trains departing from Grand Central Station generally arrive in Garrison every half-hour on weekends, while trains departing from Poughkeepsie generally arrive in Garrison every hour. To find a complete seasonal schedule, visit Metro-North’s website or stop at a regional kiosk.
When you arrive, taxi service may be sparse. Be sure to reserve a local taxi pickup in advance of your trip or try out a ride-hailing service such as Lyft or Uber. HVS offers a FREE Weekend Shuttle from the Train Station (details below). Travel time from the Garrison to the HVS Theater Tent is roughly 5 minutes by car. It is not walkable.
Getting Here By: Shuttle, Weekends (FREE!)
The Details: HVS offers a FREE round-trip shuttle from the Garrison Train Station (parking lot) to the Theater Tent every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Trips from the Train Station run beginning 3 hours before the performance and again for 30 minutes following the performance. No reservation is required.
- Meeting the Shuttle: NYC arrivals generally pull into Track 1, you do not need to cross over the rails. The Shuttle with an HVSF emblem on both sides, driven by our staff member in blue, will be waiting for you.
- After-show Departure: Shuttle departures from our site leave from the paved area near the Valley Restaurant. A staff member in blue can help direct you to the Shuttle at the end of the night. Please double check the train schedule to make sure you leave enough time.
Getting Here By: Car or Taxi
Taxi services in Garrison may have irregular hours and areas of operation. We strongly recommend making a taxi reservation one to two days in advance of your visit to be sure your service of choice is ready to assist you. Alley’s Way Taxi (845.265.8294) is a local provider HVSF audiences have used previously. You may also consider using a ride-hailing service such as Lyft or Uber.
From Manhattan and New Jersey: Upper-level George Washington Bridge to Palisades Parkway north. Cross the Bear Mountain Bridge. Turn left onto Route 9D and continue for several miles. Turn right onto Snake Hill Road and continue for a few minutes. Our HVS Theater Tent will then be on your left, towards the top of the hill.
From points South: Taconic Parkway north to Exit 5 onto NY-9A North. Stay on the Briarcliff Peekskill parkway for a few miles, then turn left onto US-6. At the roundabout, take the first exit. Keep left onto Albany Post Road, turn left in a few miles and arrive at the HVS Theater Tent.
From points North: Taconic Parkway south to Cold Spring Exit/301. Turn right onto Route 301. Turn left and continue for 10 minutes. The HVS Theater Tent will be on your right.
From points West: I-84 east across the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge to exit 41 on NY-9D– Beacon. Follow Route 9D south for 8.7 miles. Turn left onto Snake Hill Road, and our HVS Theater Tent will be on your left towards the top of the hill.
From points East: I-84 west to Exit 52A-Taconic State PKWY South. Stay on the Taconic for 6 miles, and then turn right onto NY-301. In 6.1 miles, turn left onto US-9. In 3.9 miles, turn right, and our HVS Theater Tent will be on your left.
