Michael Emerson made his New York stage debut playing “Oscar Wilde” in GROSS INDECENCY at the Minetta Lane. He later reprised the role in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He appeared in the Broadway productions of HEDDA GABLER and THE ICEMAN COMETH and has played many classical roles Off-Broadway and at regional theaters. His first TV appearance was as serial-killer “William Hinks” on the ABC series THE PRACTICE for which he received an Emmy Award. He later became known for his portrayal of “Benjamin Linus” on ABC’s LOST where he received another Emmy honor. More recent performances include leading characters on PERSON OF INTEREST, EVIL and THE NAME OF THE ROSE. Michael and his wife, the actor Carrie Preston, live in New York and Cold Spring with extended family that includes a small dog named Chumley. Michael graduated from Drake University and holds an MFA from the Conservatory at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Michael joined the HVS Board in 2025.
