When our 2018 Season planning began last fall, we realized we had a slight problem: the tension cables used to give the HVSF Theater Tent its shape (and keep it from floating downriver) were outdated and in need of love if they were to best serve our summer audience. After a few weeks of research, we discovered that the Tent “skin” itself would also need to be replaced.
Enter Carpas El Carrusel Arquitectura Ligera–the firm responsible for fabricating our original Theater Tent and our best hope for a new tent on a tight schedule–based in Mexico City. Working across national borders posed its own challenges: Would anything be lost in translation? Would U.S. Customs approve the movement of this large piece of canvas into the country? El Carrusel and the HVSF Production team worked tirelessly through April and May to ensure everyone’s favorite tent on the hill would be in place on time.
Thanks to El Carrusel, Richard and Bolingbroke will have a shiny, white, open-air palace fit for their pageantry–and for our audience’s summer comfort.
